DIRECTIONS: reflection tasks proposed by Stella Cottrell (2005) in her paper "What is critical thinking?"
REFLECTION TASK
First Reflection : Emotional self-management
The emotions are difficult to manage when arguing with others, In my personal case i consider myself sometimes as rude because when I try to defend my opinion just when know that i have strong arguments, i feel angry, but sometimes when i am not clearly sure, i respect other's opinions and i try to complement or help to analyze the pros and the cons.
when i have those feelings, i try to keep calm, breathe, and not to say anything, and when i feel better i try to discuss, because i know that opinions depends on different ways humans experience life.
Second Reflection : Influences on my thinking
I am not consider myself as an easy person to influence, however when people have strong arguments and there are more people in agreement, i just consider the opinions, and i reflect and compare those arguments.
i always try to analize, and be dialogic with people.
Third Reflection: Challenging opinions
i consider that for me is easy to convince someome with argument because when i defend somenthing i have clear and strong arguments to do it, and also it works in the other way around if someome has a challenging opinion but at the same time has stonger arguments than me, i try to find a neutral point in wich everyone feels confortable and accepted.
I try to be respectful with their opinion because everyone has a different experiences , however, when i have to correct people, or i feel obligated to think the same, i just try no to keep the conversation more.
Fourth Reflection
Do you recognize anything of yourself in Bodner’s description of students? What effect would the approach he suggests have on your learning and understanding?
When there is a person who is constantly at our side and represents an authority, we usually follow what that person tells us, either because he has more studies on the subject, or because he has more experience, or simply because he is older, I think this point is important to analyze because you do not always have to follow what other people say, so here is important to be critical, and create your own way of thinking to make decisions in an objective way.
Fifth Reflection:
I think that the best way to develop critical skill is to study in deep about the aspects of what is just thinking and what is critical thinking, also i consider important the interchange of opinions between people, so in those social spaces we as humans need negociate meaning in order to establish a deal. in other words is to create a social enviroment in wich pople can feel confortable to express their opnions.

Hi Claudia, I consider you showed you feeling geniunely, you seemed very sensitive doing this. I concur with you when you say "The emotions are difficult to manage when arguing with others", sometimes, as human beings, we tend to fly off the handle, but in order to be respectful and impartial we must hold our horses to successfully answer.
